Maddalena Maresca, MBA, E-RYT
Maddalena has been practicing yoga over 20 years. During her undergraduate experience at Georgetown, graduate studies for an international MBA, and more than a decade in corporate business, yoga was (and still is) her steadfast companion!
Her first teacher from Peru introduced her to hatha yoga in the Sivananda tradition. She later studied with YogaFit creator Beth Shaw, then turned to Yoga Works to continue her journey completing 500 Hour Certification in 2007. Her training combined the Yoga Works method with ISHTA (Integrated Science of Hatha, Tantra and Ayurveda under the guidance of Yogiraj Alan Finger). She currently studies at the Iyengar Institute with James Murphy and Carrie Owerko and remains a proud student of Mary Dunn.
She is most inspired by the profound, intelligent Iyengar system. Her style stems directly from bringing awareness in the present moment to the body, breath and mind, from the gross to the subtle. Her passions include anatomy (she continues her studies in anatomy as well as yoga) theater (she performs with and co-founded The Green Sea Theatre Company), life coaching (personal and business) and especially her 2-yr.-old daughter! Maddalena loves free-spirited self-expression natural to children and encourages her students and clients to discover and thrive in that joy.
